How It Started
Our proudly Lebanese project “BLTZ” all started when Mr. Fadi Iskandar, the founder, got diagnosed with cancer. He had to change his lifestyle completely as well as his eating habits.
Eventually, besides medication, he managed to get rid of the illness by strictly sticking to all-natural food, free from all kinds of preservatives, artificial flavoring and colorings.
Since then, he had decided to dedicate all his expertise to design a natural healthy snack to be consumed by everyone. This has coincided with the company’s recent efforts to broaden its portfolio and align with its long-term strategy of diversification. Attracted by the promising opportunities available, the company sought to leverage its existing infrastructure, know-how, and experience in the market to invest in the development of a diverse range of nutritious snacks.
Why BLTZ
Most protein bars found today on the shelf are made from protein blends that use unhealthy ingredients to act as a binder for the remaining ingredients.
BLTZ protein bars are made from dates.
Dates are a fruit that come from the date palm tree, which is native to the Middle East.
Dates are a rich source of polyphenols, carotenoids and lignans which have antioxidant properties and help manage the risk of chronic disease.
Its consumption may also reduce colon cancer thanks to its high fiber and polyphenol content, the latter also having useful anti-microbial benefits.
Dates also are a source of bone-friendly minerals including phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium and vitamin K which is needed for healthy, strong bones.
To top it all, dates act as a binding agent for the ingredients of the protein bars and as a natural sweetener! They have a low Glycemic Index (GI) and a lower fructose content than most other fruits.
